Owensboro Plane Crash Claims Pilot's Life

Comments Off

There was a plane crash in western Kentucky recently that killed the pilot of the twin engine cessna.

The plane did not have a cockpit voice recorder or “black box,” a device that records plane data. Diaz said investigators would listen to McKenney’s communications with the control tower before the crash.

“He was in contact with Owensboro tower, and the communication tapes will be reviewed,” Diaz said.

He said he didn’t know whether McKenney had told air-traffic controllers of any problems before the crash.

Diaz said he it would take about 10 days before preliminary investigation results were available.

McKenney died at the scene with the cause of death listed as blunt-force trauma. An autopsy was performed Tuesday, but results will not be available for some time, Daviess County Coroner Bob Howe said.
