A gavel truck was the cause of a trucking accident on a Kentucky Interstate 197, Wednesday, when it struck that back of a school bus sending more than two dozen children to the hospital for medical treatment.

The truck driver was cited for a drug related DUI.

The bus driver was attempting to stop when the truck crashed into the bus, according to Kentucky State Police. Four students and the bus driver were transported by ambulance to Pikeville Medical Center.

14 students were also transported by their parents to the same hospital for medical care. Some students were sent to Jenkins Hospital for treatment.

At the time of the crash their were 54 students on the bus, from either Elkhorn Elementary or East Ridge High School.

One of the students suffered a dislocated hip in the accident and one was admitted in fair condition. All other students were treated and released.
